Behrman Students to Sound Off at “Poetry on the Avenue”

Copy of Community Flyer for POTA (1)Behrman Charter’s annual Poetry on the Avenue will take to the stage on May 5th.

The event showcases a collection of original and performed works – all exploring this year’s theme of violence, social justice and cultural expression.

“Experience the wisdom from the mouths of babes,” says Michael “Quess” Moore, resident artist and Creative Director of Poetry on the Avenue. “No one can lend a fresher, more untainted perspective on both the ills and the blessings of our city than our youth.”

The event will also feature live music, dance, local foods, and guest poets – including New Orleans’ own Sunni Patterson. Internationally renowned, Patterson was on HBO’s “Def Poetry” with Russell Simmons. Her work offers hope and calls for change – a valuable message for all no matter the age.
