Fischer’s “Cure Dat” Campaign
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. At Fischer, Ms. Robinson and Ms. Jones organized a “Cure Dat” awareness walk and fundraiser for their faculty and students. All proceeds were donated to the Susan B. Komen fund. Ms. Jones said, “we are aware of the problems with breast cancer and this is our way to show tribute to the victims and survivors.”
Hundreds of Fischer students participated by wearing pink, creating supportive signs, and donating $1. Community members came outside to cheer on the staff as students as they made the 1.5 mile trek to show support for the fighters, survivors, and those lives lost to breast cancer. Prior to the event, students were able to discuss this disease, the impact it has on many lives, and what it means to be supportive.
